Taco Bell

Using design
in documentary storytelling.

Hello Everywhere was my first feature film to help art direct and design for FeedTheBeat, an indie music sponsorship by Taco Bell. A documentary with a simple concept: follow two bands to SXSW. Passion Pit, a sophomore to the annual conference, and Wildcat! Wildcat!, a freshman to the conference experience.

The story weaves the parallel successes and failures of the two bands. As is common with "on tour" documentaries, time is limited and shooting is kept run and gun. This puts pressure to define the visual language post shoot and along with editorial. To hold together the stories parallel structure around the two bands, a use of rich low contrast black and white contrasted with punchy color grades and a simple graphic typography proved to be a successful combination. Executed across film grade, photography, posters, site and advertising it created a very cohesive program and the most successful to date for FeedTheBeat.
